Sunday April 19, 2009 2:45 PM - 4:30 PM

Humanity Working to End Genocide is a coalition of over 50 organizations.  Our mission is to create and maintain a community of conscience calling for action to stop genocide in Darfur and throughout the world.

On Sunday, April 19th at 2:45pm, we will be holding our 3rd Annual Rally at First United Methodist Church, 104 S. Pineapple Ave. downtown Sarasota, to garner awareness and support of the ongoing atrocities and genocide in Darfur. The event is being held on World Awareness Day for Darfur and we expect widespread media coverage and participation.

Our keynote speaker will be Omer Ismail, a former Darfuri citizen and co-founder of Darfur Peace and Development and recently invited by the Obama administration to consult with the newly appointed Special Envoy to Darfur, General Scott Gration. Other presenters will be Frank Dewane, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese in Venice, and Rabbi Simon, chairman of the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation Community Relations Council.
